Original 1896 advertising stamp box issued by G.M. Cushman, President of the Benefit Life Association of Boston, Massachusetts. The front features Cushman's portrait and advertises the "Stamp Box" with the slogan "Benefit Life Association." The reverse contains a Newton Calendar patented May 10, 1892, allowing the user to determine the day of the week for any date in 1896. The interior is marked "Patent Applied For" and was designed to hold postage stamps. A wonderful piece of Victorian advertising, insurance, postal, and ephemera history.
Condition
Good antique condition with expected age-related wear. Graphics remain legible with light toning and soiling. Interior is marked "Patent Applied For." Please review all photos for condition details.
