1922 Chicago Sunday Evening Club Orchestra Hall Program John G Shedd McCormick

Original Chicago Sunday Evening Club order of service program dated February 5, 1922, from Orchestra Hall in Chicago. This historic program documents the Sunday evening service featuring Rev. George Craig Stewart of St. Luke's Church in Evanston and his address The Greatest Short Story Ever Told.

An interesting piece of early Chicago history, the program lists prominent officers, trustees and season box holders connected with the city's business and civic community, including John G. Shedd, Cyrus H. McCormick, Samuel Insull and companies such as Sears Roebuck, Quaker Oats, Swift & Company and Northern Trust. The musical program includes the Chicago Sunday Evening Club Choir of 100 and selections by Beethoven, Elgar, Grieg, Debussy and Gounod. Announcements also advertise the following week's Abraham Lincoln birthday program.
