Original mid-19th century steel engraving titled A Lady Playing the Harpsichord, also captioned Die Clavierspielerin and Dame jouant Clavecin. Engraved by Albert Henry Payne after the 1666 painting by Dutch Golden Age artist Caspar Netscher.

The detailed interior scene depicts a lady standing at a harpsichord accompanied by a gentleman singing, a seated woman and a servant carrying refreshments. Architectural columns, paintings and richly rendered textiles create an elaborate 17th-century interior.

Published by A.H. Payne in Dresden and Leipzig as part of a series reproducing works from the Dresden Gallery. The fine linework, crosshatching and rich tonal detail are characteristic of period steel engraving.
