Original stapled group of seven vintage State of Ohio Prepaid Sales Tax Consumer’s Receipts dating to the Depression era.
The group includes:
1 – 2¢ receipt
1 – 3¢ receipt
1 – 9¢ receipt
4 – 30¢ receipts
All seven remain stapled together as found. These colorful paper receipts were part of Ohio’s early sales tax system and were issued as evidence that sales tax had been paid. Designs feature “State of Ohio,” “Prepaid Sales Tax” and “Consumer’s Receipt” printing. The visible 2¢ receipt is marked Columbian Bank Note Company.
A fascinating intact piece of Ohio history for collectors of revenue stamps, tax memorabilia, Depression-era items and vintage paper ephemera.
Condition: Vintage used condition with age toning, discoloration, creases, edge wear and handling/storage wear. Original staples show age. Receipts remain stapled together and will be sold intact as found.
