Original vintage Atlantic Refining Company folding road map covering Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Produced by Rand McNally and distributed as promotional advertising through Atlantic service stations.
The colorful cover is especially collectible, featuring an Atlantic Imperial gasoline pump, uniformed service station attendant and classic automobile. Interior maps include period highways, cities, mileage charts, city insets, Atlantic station branding and credit card information. The artwork also includes a dramatic coastal lighthouse scene and additional mid-century Atlantic service station imagery.
The map carries code 6203-2100M-8-61, indicating an August 1961 printing. A wonderful piece of early 1960s road-trip history combining petroleum advertising, service station memorabilia, cartography and automobile travel ephemera.
Condition Vintage used condition with substantial age and handling wear including toning, staining, spotting, creasing, fold wear, edge wear and small tears/separations along some folds and edges. Map has clearly been used and refolded many times but remains highly displayable with strong graphics and color. Please review all photos carefully for condition.
